What documents do I need to open a Business Account?

Sole Proprietorships or DBA with EIN

  • Social Security Number (SSN) OR Employer Identification Number (EIN) – IRS letter/copy of tax return
  • Identification documents for all Authorized Signers

Limited Liability Company (LLC)

  • Certificate of Formation with the State of ME
  • Operating Agreement – list of Authorized Signers and titles
  • Employer Identification Number (EIN) – IRS letter/copy of tax return
  • Identification documents for all Authorized Signers

Corporation

  • Articles of Incorporation
  • Corporate Resolution – dictates who has authority to do what
  • Employer Identification Number (EIN) – IRS letter/copy of tax return
  • Identification documents for all Authorized Signers

Partnership

  • Partnership Agreement (if LP or LLP – Certificate of Partnership is needed; if GP – Certificate of Association is needed)
  • Employer Identification Number (EIN) – IRS letter/copy of tax return
  • Identification documents for all Authorized Signers

Association/Organization/ Non-Profit

  • Employer Identification Number (EIN) – IRS letter/copy of tax return
  • Articles of Organization OR Minutes from Board Meeting naming officers and who has authority to do business on behalf of the Organization.
