“Youth homelessness is a terrible reality that impacts Lewiston School District, from our high school to elementary school. To help support the homeless youth of Maine, we set up a Critical Needs Fund. Dirigo Federal Credit Union met our request of $7,000 to allocate towards homeless students and their families, helping fill the financial gaps—an emergency car repair, rent, a medical bill, clothing for the family. With Dirigo Federal Credit Union’s donation, we were able to meet this goal and continue to provide for the students of Lewiston.”

—Dan Sansoucy, District Liaison Homeless and Foster Care Youth, Lewiston School Department

“Dirigo FCU has been a long-time supporter of The Root Cellar. We began a partnership back in 2016 when they sponsored our summer soccer program. Over the past five years, this partnership blossomed to include financial literacy education for our New Americans program and various financial donations for programs like our annual Turkey Basket Drive and Holiday Store events. It’s wonderful to have a partner right in our community that is dedicated to helping our neighbors in the same way we are.”

—Joel Furrow, Executive Director, The Root Cellar
